Wynyard is located in the heart of Tasmania's north west coast and is a great starting point to explore the region which covers Sister's beach and Somerset.

Wynyard has has spectacular riverside walking trails to costal tracks through Rocky Cape national park, waterfalls, quality accommodation and fresh local produce.

Make sure you drop into the visitor information centre in Wynyard for up to date details of places to visit and some great value hotels. We want to thank the visitor information centre for the help with this website.

A Land of Flowers

In spring and summer the NW Coast is carpeted with crops of flowers. Apart from the brilliant colours of the famous tulips you may also see daffodils growing at Katandra Bulbs in Oldina Road and at the Tulip Farm on Table Cape. In early summer there are broad acres of pale pink poppies and creamy white pyrethrum daisies. Lilliums grow at Moorleah and on the Cape, where the fields are covered with the intense blue Dutch Iris.

Some streets in Wynyard are lined with flowering gums and Japanese Cherry. Check the country road-sides for tiny orchids - several varieties grow near the lighthouse and on the cave-track in Rocky Cape national park
